Posted - 08/09/2009 : 20:47:29 I had ontrack do some work for me at my land not long ago and wanted to provide a little feedback. To say that I was pleased would be an understatement. I'm a royal pain in the butt to work with and they were professional, mature, and all kinds of fun. I'd recommend Ontrack to anyone :) |

Posted - 04/07/2009 : 18:46:06 Good to hear from you prior to being Hyderized.....too funny....actually I've never heard of that before! We are from the interior region, about a mile from the Copper River where the red salmon run. If you have any extra time in Alaska this time or next be sure to let us know! We tried to walk on our lot but it is completely covered in vegetation making it nearly impossible. We kept finding the 'wait here for a while vines'. Would really appreciate some guidance from you. I will email you directions and we'll stay in touch. Charlotte |

Posted - 04/06/2009 : 15:58:00 Hey there alaskanites!! We would certainly be glad to look at your lot for you. We are working on road 8 and D right now. Give us specific directions. Tell you what, you can call me on my cell or e-mail me at greywolf74@peoplepc.com. I prefer to chat on the phone, seems more personable. What part of Alaska?? We are going the end of June and doing some fishing from the boat for about 10 days or so. I believe it is in Hyder (Hope I spelled that right) Can't wait. My friends tell me when you go to Hyder, you got to get Hyderized. Have you heard of that??
Give us a call and we'll talk story. 808-333-7849 |

Posted - 04/05/2009 : 19:34:07 greywolf74, we have a lot on road 3 and D, we just got back to Alaska from there but are wondering if you'd be willing/interested in looking at our lot? We want a little bit of everything, driveway, house pad, orchard, forest, garden. Probably won't do anything for a year but wanted to inquire with you. |

Posted - 03/24/2009 : 18:55:25 Blakeyboy1, thanks again. We are in the process of getting our website up and going, should not be too much longer. For now we can e-mail you photo's. Our company name is On Track Equipment. Alot of people are starting to recognize the slogan, "We're selective and you can be too. Get ON TRACK, to keep Hawaii green." I lived in AZ for quite some time, just north of Phoenix. I was shocked to come to paradise and see parts that are staring to look like the bare mesa's I used to drive by all the time. We cannot change what is. but hopefully do our part to help preserve and keep our paradise a paradise.
I am sure we will be in touch in the soon!! |

Posted - 03/24/2009 : 18:12:27 Thank you! I am very happy I found this topic. If we end up building I am sure we will be a customer and I have documented this discussion on my blog. Did I miss the company name? Is there a website? Mahalo!

Posted - 03/24/2009 : 10:56:35 Aloha Blakeyboy1, Yes! This is an awesome topic. Our slogan of Get "On Track" to keep Hawaii green is designed to let people know you can put a driveway and house pad in while still preserving old growth, and rainforest flora. We love the Big Island and seek to preserve it as much as can with development still coming. Our company tag line is " We're selective, and you can be to". We too have drove by several of these rock pile lots you speak of, and we cringe at the destruction of all the natural beauty the aina once offered.

Posted - 03/23/2009 : 20:53:14 This is an awesome topic. We were looking at property in HPP last week and were bothered by the complete dozing of the entire lot (or most of it). I posted about it (link below). Granted we are not experts on the area but were amazed how many beautiful lots were graded and covered with lava rock - much as we are used to seeing in Phoenix where there is NO water. We found ourselves scratching our heads. I will be following this topic closely as we have a renewed interest in building and are interested in a set-back pad, drive and paths.

Posted - 03/23/2009 : 19:18:38 Aloha TheYogi!! Thank you very much for your inquiry. To answer your question as best I can, the ruggedness of the lava and the amount and size of your vegetation are large variables in determining how quickly one can make passages or pathways through your land. I could do a walikng path through most acerage easily in one day, depending on how much hammering is involved to achieve the desired result. The most accurate way for me to share pricing is to come out and see your lot and convey to you what I see which I would be glad to do anytime and of course free of charge. Hope this is helpful to you.

Hi Greywolf,
1. We're going to be needing some paths and road cut into our property soon. I see $125.00 per hour, but I'm trying to get a feel for how much can be done in an hour. I realize many variables come into play, but can you give any examples of how much work we might see done in an hour?
2. Do you have or would you be willing to sign a contract where the property owner is not liable for any problems that arise while working on the land? Meaning if your excavator gets damaged, we wouldn't be liable?

Posted - 03/23/2009 : 19:07:59 Aloha hpp4me!! Using the landscaping cloth would definatley help. Keeping the cloth in place during good winds and rain may be a challenge. Once again the local expert at a nursery would be your specific source for plant information.

Hpp4me, we would suggest clearing some small areas and talking with the nursery to find out your low maintanence trees. Once you clear the Ulua fern, the invasives move in quickly. Unless you are planning frequent trips, I would find someone who could pop in once in a while and help to keep clearing the invasives and water if needed. We would be glad to bring in our machine and do selective clearing and a walking path if needed. Hope this info is helpful and answered some questions.
Greywolf, what if we cleared small areas for planting low maintenance trees and then put down landscape fabric to keep the weeds from coming back. Would this strategy work there, or are the invasives so strong that they would plow through the fabric?
